As long as you don't get engine knocking, you're ok. If you do, stop immediately. You don't gain a whole lot from higher octane, unless you get engine knocking. You might get marginally higher horsepower, but very small.
Race cars use higher octane fuel because the engines run higher compression, and normal fuel would knock and burn out the engine. Simply raising the octane wouldn't give you much off a performance boost. So it's ok to find the minimum that runs good in your bike.|||YES|||bikes differ a lot, even in the same model and motor. Run the bike on 87 octane. If it pings under acceleration you need to go to a higher octane.
