I lost my keys to my kawasaki motorcycle, no copies..can kawasaki look up my vin# and make a key?

i called the local kaw. dealer and they say i need a new ignition switch, but the keys also opens the gas cap, operates the steering wheel lock, helmet lock, and tool compartment...there has to be another option, is there?|||call a lock smith ....they can make you a new key. my dad is a lock smith and says its easy.|||Yes, Kawasaki can in fact get you a new key based on the VIN. I used to do it when I was service manager at a Kawasaki dealer. They sub it out to a locksmith shop in San Francisco. Make sure you have your title to prove the bike is yours. No legitimate shop will get you a key without it.

They can look up the procedure on www.k-dealer.com, the dealer's web site, or they can call the warranty hotline. Don't let them BS you.

If they won't play ball, call Kawasaki Consumer Services at (949) 460-5688.|||Go to a good locksmith. With all those locks to work with they should be able to make a key with ease.

Is there any thing with a lock that is loose so you don't have to haul the bike there? Phone ahead before you go. Some might come out to your house/to the bike. Be prepared to prove your you and you are bikes owner. (Locksmiths hate to help people steal bikes.)|||if u still have paperwork from when u bought ur bike the code for the key should be in there somewhere. usually dealers will do that if you lose all keys including the one with the little tag with the key number on it.|||Remove the ignition lock from the bike and take it to a locksmith. If he is any good, he can make you a key for it, that will also operate the other locks. Then order three or four extra keys.|||probably. when ya get the new one ya may want to make a spare this time!
