I'm 5'2 1/2 and i really really badly want to get a kawasaki ninja and people tell me i'm to short..If any one knows what the height standards are and if I am to short am i able to get the seat lowered somehow??|||There are two schools of thought on this subject;.... one says you must be able to set at least one foot flat to ride a certain bike. The other says that at long as you can balance with one foot, even on the ball of your foot (not quite tippy toed) then you are in good shape.
I'm going to go with the latter,.... while you're rolling, the reality is the need to put your foot down is all but unnecessary. Yes there are times when it is absolutely required but with learned balancing techniques its possible. I sometimes go all day without even taking a foot off the rests. A cop once told me in a bar that as long as he sees a foot even tap the ground you can never get stopped for running a stop sign..... there are some that say "cop didn't see it? -didn't happen". The cop agreed.
Now, be aware that lowering a bike changes the handling characteristics and steering geometry from designed stock configuration, so with that, the decisions are all up to you.|||Well, ms Tanya, the seat height of the 250 Ninja is only 30.5" and it weighs 374 lb. The 650 has 31.1" seat height and weighs well over 400 lb. Ask yourself if you can handle those numbers.
You might be a bit tippy-toe! That's not a good thing to be with a motorbike! The dealer would know if a lowering kit is available for any model. A good upholsterer can certainly lower the seat height by cutting down the foam padding, maybe an inch or two...though there's not much padding to begin with on a sport bike...|||My wife is about 5'4" and she rode her first bike, a ZX-6R with no issues.
As long as you can hold the bike up with one foot on the ground you should be fine. Let the bike rest on your upper inner thigh.
The idea that you have to put both feet on the ground flat to ride is a myth created by extremist suck butts who don't even ride sport bikes.|||its not about height its about your inseam women have longer legs then usually im a lil over 5 '10 and have a short 30 in inseam and i ride a 600 not lowered . but no way in hell i can have both feet flat on the ground .... well maybe if i had two flat tires ... go sit on bikes see what feels good to you|||usually what i hear is about 5'8 or in that general area|||go sit on a few bikes you wil know what fits need to be able to put your feet down|||6'
