- American Lincoln production line produced extras in 1977 (KZ900-A5)|||That vintage/year the frames were all made in Japan. Honda, Kaw didn't start assembling in US until late 1980s for certain models- mostly larger than 750cc. Check Kaw dealer for old pattern frame number codes- that might be a last of 750triple 2 stroke code, might be first of big 4 stroke codes. 1974 tags should have been the federal standard pattern but that might have been later in 1970s like 1978 or 79? Stamped frame numbers were manufacturers patterns that could vary from VIN tags that had a legal standard pattern of country of origin code, etc besides model and serial number.|||I can't tell you what motorcycle your frame came from, but being made in Japan would not necessarily make it more rare. Japan flooded the market during the 70s and 80s.|||it sounds like the Kaw z1 R whtich was the first super cycle - the one I had would do 0 to 60 in 2 1/2 seconds
